We should not lay hands suddenly on people for several reasons:
1 Timothy 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.
Therefore, there are several situations regarding that matter:
1 _ Indeed, if we act fleshly, namely with a haughty spirit =≥ it can lead us to our own destruction; /!\ we run the risk of incurring the wrath of God because we are acting disobediently and haughtily. We want to act by our own means, that is to say that we are searching to glorify ourselves instead of The Lord Jesus, which implies being NOT under HIS holy protection. Thus, we are under no spiritual cover.
Acts 19: 13-16
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
2 _ Another aspect of a fleshly behaviour is to act in a foolish manner or hastily, that is to say: deprived of wisdom. Here again, we do not consult God and it is often the result of a lack of spiritual maturity. We act as if were a child. Once more, in that very case, we are not under The Lord Jesus’ protection.
For example, if without the Lord’s command, we lay hands on somebody to cast out a demon from that person, the demon can turn against us and even possess us if God does not interfere to rescue us. The level of seriousness is not as high as in the first scenario because in the second one, we act by lack of knowledge, maturity or experience.
/!\ We let ourselves be conducted by our emotions and not by the Spirit!
If we walk in sanctification and thus in the fear of God, The Lord Jesus is faithful and keeps us from many troubles by intervening HIMSELF or by putting someone on our way to correct us.
Thank you, Lord Jesus!
Proverbs 22: 15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
3 _ Last but not least, there is a third scenario according to which it may happen that someone lay hands on somebody suddenly. That third case is nothing but blasphemy.
Indeed, it is not by words only that we may commit blasphemy, but we may also do it by actions or thoughts. So, in those very cases we may clearly oppose ourselves to The Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus. We may even fight against Him if, for instance, it is His Holy Spirit that is shaking someone under the Anointing and we are attributing that to the work of Satan instead of God’s, by trying to exorcize that person.
That last scenario is also extremely serious because by opposing ourselves to the Spirit of God, we openly oppose ourselves to the King of kings, the Almighty, the Lord of lords, the Lion of the tribe of Judah! There is no need to say, then, that we do not measure up to the Master!
/!\ It is a losing battle!
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
To conclude, we must always submit ourselves to the Spirit of God and let us be guided and enlightened by HIM alone!
Proverbs 1: 7, 23, 32-33
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
Alleluia!
May all glory be given to The LORD JESUS CHRIST!
JESUS IS GOD!!
